2026 Traffic Update
Dear Parents and Families,
Beginning tomorrow, January 6, 2026, and expected to continue for approximately 8 weeks, arrival and dismissal procedures will follow a temporary traffic pattern due to ongoing construction and safety requirements around the school. Thank you for carefully following the procedures below to help us maintain a safe and orderly process for all students.
Car Riders
Parents driving students to school must enter from the intersection of S. Braeswood and Bob White. This area will be for school traffic only during arrival and dismissal.
City personnel will be stationed at the intersection, and parents must identify themselves as Fondren parents to be permitted through the restricted area.
All families must then follow the required route:
- Enter onto S. Braeswood from the Bob White intersection
- Make a U‑turn in the admin/bus ramp area
- Exit back onto S. Braeswood
- Enter the staff parking lot for student drop-off
- Make a U‑turn inside the staff lot
- Exit back onto S. Braeswood
Students may not be dropped off or picked up on S. Braeswood under any circumstances. Stopping, slowing, parking, or letting students cross traffic lanes is unsafe and is strictly prohibited.
To support safety, we ask parents to speak with their students about following pedestrian and traffic laws and to remind them never to cross S. Braeswood or enter the roadway outside of supervised crosswalks.
Walkers
Students walking to and from school should continue using their regular walking routes.
To help ensure safety:
- Students must follow all pedestrian laws
- Students should remain on sidewalks at all times
- Students walking toward Larkwood should use caution near construction equipment
HISD PD and campus staff will support safe crossings during arrival and dismissal.
Families Approaching from Larkwood
Parents coming from the Larkwood area should use the following detour:
- Larkwood → Dumfries → Bob White → S. Braeswood
Families already traveling along S. Braeswood may continue approaching from that direction.
Student Athletes & After‑School Activities
Parents picking up student athletes or extracurricular participants must arrive no later than 5:30 PM so that students can exit while City traffic staff are still on site to assist with safe flow.
Safety Support
HISD PD will assist with walker safety, bus flow, and general vehicle traffic.
We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and cooperation as we work with the City to maintain a safe arrival and dismissal process during this construction period. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you,
Principal LaKia Jackson
